Filed under: Pet Supplies — Admin @ 3:31 pm

Dog food is specially designed and formulated for the consumption of dogs and related canines in food. Dogs are considered omnivores, with a carnivore bias.

The nutritional value ofdog food lies in the ingredients, containing a mix of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients that make up the necessary diet. If a dog does not receive the proper nutrients from its food, it could develop various diseases that may become fatal.

As mentioned, dogs are considered omnivorous, but carnivores do have certain requirements that a dog diet should contain. These include meat, bones, and other dietary supplements.

A dog eating such a diet is likely to get a number of health problems. This could include obesity or an under-developed digestive system. It also means that the dog is expected to consume more calories than he needs due to a lack of exercise.

There are also cases when dogs that do not eat properly and do not receive a proper diet may suffer from respiratory or kidney disorders. On the other hand, in several instances in which a dog is eating a good quality diet with all the nutrients required will be more likely to survive and live a long and healthy life.

However, to ensure that your dog receives the proper diet and avoid problems related to nutrition, you must consult a veterinarian about feeding him.

The first thing you need to determine in determining the right kind of dog’s diet is its specific nutritional requirements. Since different dog breeds may have specific requirements, you need to figure out which one you need to feed to your dog to ensure that it lives a healthy life.

Different dog breeds may require various things to make sure they live a healthy life, including particular nutrients so that they can digest food properly and have an excellent digestive system. You should consult your vet about the right foods for your specific dog to ensure that you give it the right kind of nutrition to help keep it fit and healthy.

Your vet can assess your dog’s current diet and can then determine if your dog needs dog food specially formulated for his breed or not. Some foods are specially made for dogs depending on the species of the dog.

Since each dog has its own specific nutritional needs, dog food made especially for them can help them achieve their potential. By giving your dog a well-balanced diet that contains all the essential nutrients that it needs to stay healthy, you can guarantee that your dog will live a longer and happier life and that he will continue to grow up strong and healthy.

Healthy dog foods can range from the high-priced to the very affordable and they come in a variety of flavors, shapes and sizes to cater to each dog’s needs. Whatever your budget, there is sure to be an affordable and healthy dog food available to meet your dog’s needs.

When purchasing, be sure to check out the label first and check with your veterinarian on any of the ingredients you plan to include in your dog’s diet to make sure that your dog is getting the vitamins and nutrients they need to stay healthy.

You should also be aware of how much protein and fiber your dog has to eat each day to maintain a balanced diet. These are not mandatory nutrients, and many breeds of dogs will only need the minimum amount of both.

If you notice any problems such as bloating, diarrhea, or weight loss, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible so they can correct the problems.

How to Stop a Dog Digging

According to some surveys, around 80% of dogs dig holes. This is probably not surprising as digging is a natural adaptive behavior from the wild. However, since dogs now live in homes, this behavior can mess up your garden. This article explains why dogs dig holes and how to stop them from doing so.

Why Dogs Dig

Your dog can be digging for one or more of the reasons below.

  • The dogs are suffering from boredom. Puppies or younger dogs who have high energies just love digging. Digging up holes seem like a fun activity for them. In addition, yanking plant roots can be an interesting challenge for them.
  • The dogs hunting instinct is kicking in. They cansmell bunnies, moles, or other ground dwelling animals. Hence, they dig to track down these animals. It is also a good supply of fresh food.
  • Burying food. Most people know dogs bury bones in holes. This behavior is a legacy from the dogs’ ancestors who store food in holes. Sometimes, they change the safety spot and bury it in another hole. As a result, you end up with more holes!
  • To get cool and comfortable. This can happen during summer or a particular hot day. The soil is cool and moist after removing the warm top layer.
  • To search for freedom and adventure. Dogs sometimes like to hang outside without their owner’s permission. To this end, they will dig a tunnel bordering your property in a bid to escape outside.
  • Symptom of separation anxiety. Digging is one-way dogs relieve their pent-up stress when their owners’ leave. The dogs could also possibly be digging a tunnel to go outside and find you.
  • Sign of nesting. This is an indication that your female dog is about to give birth. She digs to find a place to protect her puppies from predators.

How to Stop Your Dog from Digging

Once you identify the reason why your dog digs, choose the appropriate methods below.

  • Find ways to release your dog’s energy. Take your dog for walks or for a swim. If you are already doing that, do it for longer periods of time.Put backpacks on your dogs to intensify their exercises, if it is not possible to increase the exercise duration.
  • Give them an area to dig. You can give your dogs a specific place in your garden to dig. Start the initial hole. You can also choose to get a sand box. Either way, bury their toys or treats there to inspire them to dig there.
  • Bury dog poop. Scoop your dog poop and put in the hole before you fill it back. Dogs don’t like to dig up their own feces. Take note, this might not fully work as the dogs can choose to create another hole.
  • Spray the area with paprika or cayenne pepper. These spices smell deter most dogs. This method is also not full proof as the dog can dig anotherarea.
  • If you believe your dog digs to cool off, provide some of the items below.
    1. An insulated dog house
    2. A shallow wading pool
    3. A fan (air blowing over ice feels just like air conditioning)
    4. A bed that allows air to circulate underneath
  • Be a pack leader. You need to do this if your dog has separation anxiety issues. Only then, will your dog be able to fully relax while you are away. Furthermore, been a pack leader will solve other behavior problems. I recommend checking thelink below to understand how to become thepack leader.

Online Or Offline, Price Comparison Tools Help Consumers Shop Smart

Filed under: Pet Supplies — Admin @ 3:33 pm

While comparison shopping is nothing new, the way shoppers conduct their research is. Years ago, shoppers combed through retail shelves in pursuit of the perfect deal, an effort that took time, effort and gas. Today, the web fills the gap between time and space with an array of comparison shopping sites that offer customer reviews, large selections and access to prices from well-known stores.

According to ComScore, of the 167 million Americans online in February, almost 53 million of them visited at least one of the top comparison-shopping sites. And, while many of those consumers bought online, many others used the information to purchase the desired product in a retail shop as well. Competition is indeed fierce in cyberspace and in the store; but, the good news is it is consumers who are getting the great end of the deal.

Among the list of popular sites that allow visitors to contrast and compare are Yahoo Shopping, Shopzilla, Froogle and NexTag. In addition, there are at least another ten price comparison sites that boast the best tools and technology to help consumers make smarter choices. Each has distinct features, advantages and, unfortunately, disadvantages. Still, the popularity of such sites and technology means that entrepreneurs and dot-coms will continue to devise ways for consumers to research and buy goods, ensuring that competition among online and offline retailers will remain stiff.

In fact, the top price comparison sites are already getting some tough opposition from companies that take advantage of the other guys shortcomings. Frucall, which according to the company spokesperson was inspired by frugal shoppers everywhere, for example, is one of the newest services targeted to value-minded shoppers and boasts a quick and convenient way for bargain-hunters to get the best deal, even without the use of a computer.

Launched in March as the first price-comparison mobile service, Frucall allows shoppers to compare retail store prices with prices for the same products on Amazon.com, directly from their cell phone. It s a simple solution that sidelines many sites that offer price comparison results to be sent via text message to a consumer s cell phone but fail to offer immediate access to price comparisons when the shopper sees a product he or she didn t research ahead of time. Even better, is that consumers can actually buy the product directly from their mobile phone, assuming they have registered and have a valid credit card in their profile.

Touted as the easiest and quickest way to price compare, Frucall enables shoppers in the midst of surveying retail aisles to call a toll-free number (888-FRU-SHOP) and input the product s UPC or ISBN number. Within a few seconds, the caller gets a confirmation of the product name and the price of the item as listed online. Currently, the service compares prices for products from a variety of categories including automotive supplies, books, electronics, jewelry, movies, music, tools and pet supplies. In the future, Frucall says they will generate best price information through Internet-wide e-commerce searches.

Seems the online price comparison wars will rage on.
