Víctor Valdés to play in Belgian Pro League; Manchester United loans Valdés to Standard Liège till season end

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 3:04 pm

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

On Sunday, Manchester United announced the loan of their Spanish goalkeeper Víctor Valdés to Belgian club Standard Liège for the rest of the season.

Last year, Valdés signed an 18-month contract with the English club, but the three-time UEFA Champions League winner was given very little opportunity at Old Trafford. He made only two appearances for The Reds last season, after David de Gea was injured. Relations between Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal and Valdés were not good. Van Gaal did not pick him for the pre-season tour to the United States, saying Valdés was unwilling to play a game with the under-21 team.

This season, Valdés was not allowed in the locker room, and van Gaal prevented him from training with the main squad and the under-21 team. The official team photograph omitted him.

Valdés was a member of Spain’s squad for the World Cup in 2010 and for Euro 2012, collecting a winner’s medal both times. Per Manchester United’s statement, “Manchester United and Standard Liege have reached agreement for the temporary transfer of goalkeeper Victor Valdes, effective until the end of the current season. The deal is subject to formalities being completed.”

On Instagram, he posted a photo that read “Thank you all for your support during these months of hard work for me, i will never forget! See you soon!”

‘Electra’-fying competition faces ‘Fockers’

U.S. and Canada — North American movie box offices were dominated by Universal pictures last weekend as two of its films, a comedy, Meet the Fockers, and a horror flick, White Noise, together raked in a combined $52.6 million, more than half the $98.3 all films made over the Jan. 7 weekend, according to film tracking firm Box Office Mojo.

But Universal’s dominance of the North American box office receipts is in danger as 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Warner Brothers and Sony all have films debuting in wide release Friday.

After a two-week drought of new releases with Noise the only debut, the Jan. 14 weekend is relatively crowded as three new films bow and one Oscar-buzz movie expands into wide release.

  • Elektra (PG-13) [1:37] Among the new entries is the Jennifer Garner star vehicle Elektra a semi-sequel to 2003’s comic-book based Daredevil where Garner reprise a role of anti-hero. Elektra bows in 3,204 theatres.
  • Coach Carter (PG-13) [2:14]: Paramount pictures releases the 134-minute metaphor heavy Coach Carter, a production of MTV Pictures, featuring Samuel L. Jackson in an inspirational inner-city high school sports movie. Coach Carter will debut in 2,524 U.S. and Canadian movie houses.
  • Racing Stripes (PG) [1:24]: Warner Bros. also enters the debut fray with its live-action talking animal family movie, Racing Stripes, featuring the voices from such a diverse cast as Snoop Dogg, Mandy Moore and Dustin Hoffman. Racing Stripes starts its run with 3,185 venues.
  • House of Flying Daggers (PG-13) [1:59]: Sony Pictures Classics is expanding its wire fu Chinese war epic, House of Flying Daggers. The film has made it to several critics best-of-the-year lists and is considered a front runner for Academy Award nominations in several technical categories.

An Insecure Dog Training Your Dog To Be More Assertive!

Filed under: Crafts — Admin @ 3:51 pm

By Sarah McDermott

There are a lot of people who have pets and all these people have different problems ranging from their pet always barking at people when they pass by to being as quiet as a mouse and for any reason. The funniest and least funny of all these problems is when your dog won’t seem to want to sleep somewhere else besides your bed and oddly enough your side of the bed on top of that. There can be many solutions to all these types of problems and they will not always work for every person but this article is for the purpose of taking the time to address this quite irritating issue. Thinking about it this can be caused by many different issues such as insecurity to a dominance problem. It is your job as a dog owner to be able to tell the difference between the two. For example, if it were a dominance problem you would see other signs besides the sleeping on the bed issue. You might see aggressiveness or constant barking but as it may seem these two signs usually go hand in hand with a scared dog. Also if you were dealing with a insecurity problem than you might notice that your dog is always scared and has his tail down constantly. It might help him to sleep in your bed as security or simply because it makes him feel safer than sleeping alone. This problem is a lot more common than people think.

The best way to deal with the aggressive problem is to stop it dead in its tracks. Dog usually are aggressive because they think that they are being threatened by whatever they are barking at. This is usually caused by you the owner because the reason for this is that he thinks he is the leader in your household. He has been given enough power and leeway to feel as though you should be following him so any attempts to silence him will go on deaf ears so to speak. The best way to silence this kind of issue is to show him that you mean business and that you are the leader in this household and not him.

There are a lot of animals that in the wild before they were domesticated ran in a pack mentality. This means that in a pack mentality there is only one leader and it is usually the one who is the strongest in the pack. He relates this mentality to the home and sees that he is stronger than you. With that in mind you need to take back that leadership role and show him that you are the leader. This is the quickest way to silence your dog and to have some kind of confidence that he wont one day turn violent whether it be towards you or to someone else outside.

When we talk next time I want to address the second part of this article which will apply to dogs that suffer from insecurity issues.

Driftwood crucifix listed on eBay for $25,000

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 3:23 pm

Monday, March 21, 2005A piece of driftwood in the shape of a crucifix is listed for sale on eBay with a starting bid price of $25,000. The seller, known as “Marzipanda,” from Scottsdale, Arizona lists its description as a “Natural Found Wood Jesus Christ Crucifix Cross Easter.”

Maripanda describes the discovery of the piece as, “My very dear friend found this amazing natural driftwood while hiking a few years ago. So striking because it clearly resembles the Lord and all the details.”

Expensive found art Christiana made international headlines in November 2004 when a Florida woman named Diana Duyser sold a partially eaten grilled cheese sandwich on eBay for $28,000 to Canadian online gambling website, GoldenPalace.com, after claiming she saw the likeness of the Virgin Mary burned onto the toast.

But not all high-priced Christian fare on eBay is of dubious value. A perusal of Christian-themed items as of March 20, showed 13,944 for sale on eBay. They ranged from other found art to some very expensive and authenticated rare art.

One such item has an eBay seller from Tel-Aviv, Israel listing a 19th century iron wall plaque with a starting bid of $30,000 and a shipping cost of $2,000, making it the most-expensive Christian religious item listed for sale on the auction web site.

Under the “Christian Icons” section of the site, the 14 cast iron plaques are advertised to have been made in 1855 and portrays “Jesus in Jerusalem” with the 14 stations of Christ.

Another high-priced Christian-themed item is a set of chalices and paten in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for $3,550. The gold-plated silver is thought to have been made in the 1870s.

China overtakes Germany as world’s biggest exporter

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 3:06 pm

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Chinese officials have said that their country’s exports surged last December to edge out Germany as the world’s biggest exporter.

The official Xinhua news agency reported today that figures from the General Administration for Customs showed that exports jumped 17.7% in December from a year earlier. Over the whole of 2009 total Chinese exports reached US$1.2 trillion, above Germany’s forecast $1.17 trillion.

Huang Guohua, a statistics official with the customs administration, said the December exports rebound was an important turning point for China’s export sector. He commented that the jump was an indication that exporters have emerged from their downslide.

“We can say that China’s export enterprises have completely emerged from their all-time low in exports,” he said.

However, although China overtook Germany in exports, China’s total foreign trade — both exports and imports — fell 13.9% last year.

Eric Bogosian on writing and the creative urge

Eric Bogosian is one of America’s great multi-dimensional talents. “There’s sort of three different careers, and any one of them could exist by itself, on its own two feet. There was that solo stuff, and then I started writing plays in the late seventies.” Although his work has spanned genres, most readers will recognize Bogosian for his acting, which has included a memorable performance in Woody Allen‘s Deconstructing Harry to co-writing and starring in the Oliver Stone movie Talk Radio (based upon his Pulitzer Prize-nominated play) to playing the bad guy in Under Siege 2 to his current role in Law & Order: Criminal Intent as Captain Danny Ross. They may not know, however, that he had collaborated with Frank Zappa on a album, worked with Sonic Youth, and was a voice on Mike Judge‘s Beavis & Butthead Do America. He started one of New York City’s largest dance companies, The Kitchen, which is still in existence. He starred alongside Val Kilmer in Wonderland and his play Talk Radio was recently revived on Broadway with Liev Schreiber in the role Bogosian wrote and made famous.

Currently at work on his third novel, tentatively titled The Artist, Bogosian spoke with David Shankbone about the craft of writing and his life as a creative.

Hair is not just important for women, it is equally important for men too. Earlier, it was easy to walk into a store and pick products and walk out. Thanks to globalization, marketplace is loaded with products of all types and kind, making purchase complicated. We don’t know what’s required and what isn’t, in most cases. They say hair care products, then styling products, then styling care products and what not! But, what are essentials? You’re the best person to determine what you need, according to your liking or requirements.

For anyone, the products needed vary according to hair type and issues. For instance, healthy hair will need nothing more than oil, shampoo and a conditioner. But for curly hair, the necessity for taming products or nourishment products for damaged hair, are needed So, it is all about what your hair needs and what will suit it best.Regardless of your hair type, hair oil is a must. You can buy one that’s lighter if you don’t prefer a greasy look. But, you can never skip oil. In this modern era, most of us ignore oil and think it is old-fashioned or greasy. But, only oil can moisturize, nourish, repair and rejuvenate your hair. Before I take hair shower, I make sure to apply oil and leave it for around an hour. I apply light oil like Argan, after shower and my hair is dry. I apply it before heading out, so pores are still open and clean to receive the oil.Do you know a leave-in conditioner is my first personal choice of hair conditioner? Yes, it is gentle compared to wash-off conditioner and can also, nourish and shine my hair. A conditioner is good, as it could restore lost moisture and also give shine and sheen to hair that has lost its luster, due to styling or excessive use of chemical or heat. Furthermore, I make sure I use a gentle and natural shampoo, so I don’t remove my hair’s essential nutrients Did you know chemical shampoos can leave your hair dry and lifeless? Yes, since I wash my hair 2 – 3 times a week, I opt for a daily use shampoo. That’s milder than most. I have two combs, one for detangling that’s wide-toothed and one normal for combing. I rarely use a brush and don’t use hair dryer even if I don’t have time! I rarely use it without heat, when am out for occasion and use a protective product to avert hair damage I pick Argan based hair care products, because Argan oil is the best food for your hair. I love it for the amazing hair restorative and rejuvenation properties and it works well for my hair. When you stick to these basics, your hair will love you back and grow out long and strong. That’s what we women want right? Obviously, men can try these tips, albeit, with a few tweaks!

Curious about which

Large Hadron Collider reaches milestone

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 3:55 pm

Thursday, April 1, 2010

The Large Hadron Collider—the world’s largest science experiment—shattered records Tuesday by successfully colliding particle beams at a combined energy of 7 teraelectronvolts (TeV). This marks a milestone in the collider’s progress, and will usher in the beginning of up to two years of intensive investigations.

In just a few hours, detectors along the LHC’s 17-mile tube recorded 500,000 collision events. Two beams of protons were sent in opposite directions, each with an energy of 3.5 TeV, guided by thousands of large electromagnets.

Guido Tonelli, a spokesman for one of the detectors, said “Major discoveries will happen only when we are able to collect billions of events and identify among them the very rare events that could present a new state of matter or new particles.”

The LHC will eventually shut down for about a year to prepare for 14-TeV collisions. Scientists will ultimately sift through information on billions of collision events, in hope that the results will lead to a “new era in science”.
